Today, December 6, while people should celebrate Moș Nicolae (St. Nicholas), elections are taking place in Romania. That country, as once the poet said (Bacovia): “o, țară tristă, plină de humor…” = “oh, sad country, full of humor…”
For all the people full of hopes for this new elections (i.e. results), I only have other’s poet famous words: Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch’intrate („Lăsați orice speranță, voi cei care intrați”).
In English: “Abandon all hope, you who enter here”. So, paraphrasing, I can only say:
Abandon all hope, you who enter this country!
Merry St. Nicholas, and happy voting!
