Histria was a Greek city (polis) on the western coast of the Black Sea, close to Danube (named Ister at that time), and probably the first urban settlement (7th Century BC!) in the territory that later will become Romania.
In the first century of our era, Histria was occupied by the Romans. It was destroyed by the invasions of the Avars and the Slavs in the 7th century AD. Now, the ruins are witnesses of its rich history. Enjoy a picture of Histria. For more photography (of Histria and more), see the volume on Amazon:
